About Gatwick Airport:
Gatwick Airport, known by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) code LGW is the second largest airport in the United Kingdom. The Northern runway is only used if the Southern runway is not operational. Gatwick Airport is the busiest solo runway airport in the entire world. Gatwick has two terminals, a North and South terminal. The southern terminal was completed in 1958, with the northern terminal being completed in 1983.
Gatwick Airport is accessible by all major modes of airport. The National Express coach company regularly connected passengers across the entire United Kingdom. There are additional regular services connecting Gatwick with Heathrow and Stansted airports. The Gatwick Express train service connects passengers from Central London to the airport's terminals. The service takes around thirty minutes and leaves from London Victoria rail station. By car, Gatwick Airport is twenty-eight miles to the south of the centre of London. The airport is located at Junction 9 of the M23, only a short drive from the M25. Remarkably, it is possible to cycle to the South Terminal on the national cycle network.
There is an automated transport system called the Gatwick Airport Transit, it connected the two terminals. The automated vehicles have three carriages and are driverless. They operate over a track that is 1.2kms in length. It takes between three and six minutes to travel the distance between the terminals.
